Dunwoodie, McLaughlin, Layne, Mick, Davis, Cadwallader, Stigall, and Hibner fly to checkers on McCarthy Auto Group Kids Night.

McCarthy Auto Group Kids Night is always a special night at I-35 Speedway. Sponsors, drivers, and fans give back to the youth by donating school supplies for back to school. It just happened that it coincided with some great racing on the track.

The E-Mods were first to hit the track and they would see only the fourth different winner of the season as Adam Dunwoodie put his 33D machine out front and never looked back. Dunwoodie would be challenged early and often by George Burnett and Michael Taylor III, but in the end, Dunwoodie would be able to hold off all challenges for his first career win. Michael Taylor III would slip by Burnett late in the race to finish second. Michael Silkwood finished fourth and Alex Dunwoodie was fifth.

Pure Stocks would see another first-time winner but the car has seen victory lane with Steven Bowers Jr behind the wheel. Darrion McLaughlin knew he had a car capable of winning and showed that Saturday night picking up his first win the in the Pure Stocks. Brandon Dixon would get the lead late in the race but was unable to hold off McLaughlin and finished second. Blaine Yonts would be a man on a mission and would come up to finish third. Travis Cavin and Nicholas Bonnett each had nice runs finishing fourth and fifth.

The Poweri Midwest Lightning Sprints were on hand with veteran Bobby Layne picking up the win. It wasn’t easy for Layne as he would have to hold off his step son Jeff Bard numerous times. Kenny Bowers would pick up third with young guns Trice Roden and Chasity Younger finishing fourth and fifth.

Brad Mick picked up another win in the Sport Compacts adding to his points lead. Chris Wright had a fast car but would finish second. Harold Robb Jr, Frank Reed and Owen Richards all had nice runs to round out the top five.

Kerry Davis was able to cut the lead in half for the points championship for the Midwest Limited Late Models as he notched his sixth win of the season. Paul Glendenning back from vacation finished second. Houston Johnson finished third, Tommy Cordray fourth and young DJ Barnes fifth.

In the USRA B-Mods, Tyler Cadwallader continues to stretch his points lead as he picked up his 7th feature win for 2021. It wasn’t an easy win for Cadwallader as he had to hold off challenges from Lonnie Hibner who finished second. Todd Luke would have another good run finishing third. Collin Pierce continues a strong season with a fourth-place finish and Shadren Turner rebounded from getting collected in an early mishap finishing fifth.

USRA Stock Car action would find 70-year-old Gene Stigall back in victory lane for the first time in a while. Stigall would have a great battle with track points leader Michael Knight, getting by Knight with two laps to go to pick up the win. King would finish second, followed by Louis Lynch, Aaron Sauter and Tony Manley.

The 2020 USRA Modified track champion Tyler Hibner returned to victory lane for the second time this season at I-35 Speedway. Lee Hibner would motor his way up to a second-place finish. Last week’s feature winner Daniel Harris would finish third, with Houston Johnson and Ed Knoll rounding out the top five.

Congratulations to this week’s Fan of the Week Dale Smith. Thank to you the Fan of the Week sponsors Kenny Bowers Motorsports, Team Noah and Paul Glendenning.
