Here’s August! My how time flies when you are having fun at I-35 Speedway. Seems just yesterday we started the season but here we are in August, a month we lose 67 minutes of daylight time, and oh wait for it – A Month of Super Fun at I-35 Speedway.
This Saturday, August 7, is McCarthy Auto Group Kids Night with back-to-school supplies for the children. Racing action begins at 7:00 P.M. Pit gates open 3 hours before race time and the grandstands open 30 minutes after the pit gates open. Admission prices are $15 for adults, $12 for Seniors (62 and older) and Military, and as always, those 18 and younger (ID may be requested) are Free. Thank you, drivers, fans, and sponsors who have given money, time, and school supplies, to make this a wonderful night for the children.
Friday, Friday, Friday August 13, the aroma of the racetrack changes and makes everyone hungry as the KCBS BBQ Teams roll in and begin a night of cooking. But wait there is also a wing tasting contest and oh yeah – Racing! Friday Night (and again Saturday Night) the Sport Compacts, the Pure Stocks, and the E Mods will be in competition along with the Vintage Car Special for TCD Parts Night at the Races. Saturday Night, Seeburg Muffler Night at the Races, we add the Limited Late Models, the USRA B Mods, the USRA Stock Cars, and the USRA A Mods to the competition. But wait, just like the Television Show Let’s Make a Deal, behind Door Number 1 we have a sponsor who has stepped up for the Sport Compacts. Saturday Night, August 14, the Sport Compacts will be racing for $250 to win, and if the Sport Compact driver competed both Friday and Saturday Night there will be bonus money for them no matter where they finish on Saturday in the feature!
Whew the first two weekends at I-35 Speedway are already full of excitement. What’s next? Next is August 21 the Trenton Coca Cola Night with USAC Wingless Sprints Special. Those powerful non wing open wheel 800 plus horsepower slide them sideways machines make their second 2021 appearance at the famed high banked oval along with the weekly classes.
August 28 Casey’s General Store Night at the Races and the “Mike Knight Memorial” in honor of former dirt track prep guru brings additional money to the USRA B Mods.
