I-35 Speedway Race Recap 7-23-22

One hundred and two cars checked in for Seeburg Mufflers night at I-35 Speedway. Drivers, crews, fans and track personnel braved the hot temperatures for some exciting side-by-side racing.

 

The USAC Midwest Wingless Racing Association checked in for the first time in 2022 and the eighth time overall. “Cool Hand” Luke Howard dominated the 20-lap feature for his second career MWRA feature win. Chris Parkinson would race his way up to a second-place finish. Wyatt Burks, who missed the heat race due to an engine change, would start 17th in the feature and race his way up to third. Chad Goff challenged for the lead early in the race and finished fourth. Brian Beebe rebounded from an earlier mishap to finish fifth.

 

In E-Mod action, Casey Burnett picked up his 11th feature win of the season. Adam Dunwoodie found some speed on the high side, but as he tried to pass Burnett for the lead, a caution flag would hold him back to second place. Dunwoodie would finish second, followed by good runs by Andrew Thomas, AJ Sayers and Blake Hayes.

 

Johnny Price would lead every lap, capturing his first career Pure Stock feature win.  Nicholas Bonnett would rebound from an earlier spin on lap 1 to finish second. Points leader Ava Dixon would race her way into a third-place finish, followed by Tommy Luft and Ryan Hinkle rounding out the top 5.

 

In the Midwest Limited Late Models, Houston Johson would find some high side hustle as he slipped past then race leader Ed Noll about 5 laps into their 20-lap feature. Noll would hold on for second. After a great side-by-side battle, Paul Glendenning would finish third, with Tommy Cordray fourth and Brad Dibben fifth.

 

In the USRA B-Mods, points leader Tyler Cadwallader would roar from his front row starting spot to pick up his fifth feature win of the season at I-35 Speedway. Corey Myers, who is in a points battle with Cadwallader, would finish second. The USRA B-Mod points leader Shadren Turner would finish third, followed by Michael Taylor III and Darrion McLaughlin with good runs in fourth and fifth.

 

USRA Stock Car points leader Doug Keller would bring a new car and a new number to I-35 Speedway and pick up his third feature win of the season. Jason Newman would make his first trip to I-35 Speedway in 2022 a good one as he finished second. Chris Mercer would have another good run finishing third, followed by Jason Estes and track points leader Nic Hanes.

 

In USRA Modified action, Lee Hibner would lead the entire 20 lap event to pick up his second feature win of the season. Track points leader Tyler Hibner would see his four-race win streak snapped by his old man as he finished second. They were followed by good runs from Houston Johnson, Tyler Grooms and Chad Lyle in the top five.

 

Isaiah Penton would start the season on fire in the Sport Compacts, only to be cooled off for the last month. Saturday night, Penton got back to his winning ways as he picked up his 7th feature win of the season. Second went to Sport Compact points leader Brad Mick, with third to Jonathan Hartman would have another outstanding run. Fourth and fifth went to Scott Beagle and Harold Robb Sr.
