USRA Out Pace B-Modifieds would be the first to tackle the fast 3/8ths Mile speedway and what a show they would perform for the large crowd in attendance. Mike Tanner #20T would use a front row starting position to propel him out front and hold off the challenge of heat race winner Eddie Schwope Jr #91 in the early stages of the feature. As then race progressed, Jake Richards #17J would climb through the field to challenge but come up a little short as Mike Tanner would pick up the feature win for the second week in a row at I-35 Speedway. Richards would place second with Bud Wilson #20X charging hard through the pack to place a solid third on the night. Fourth would belong to Doug Keller #7 on his first visit to I-35 Speedway this 2017 season with other heat race winner Tim Eaton #211 placing fifth. Other heat race winner was Randy Ainsworth #57.
Holley USRA Iron Man Stock Cars would charge to the track next with great racing action from start to finish. Heat race winner Sam Scott #93 would set the pace only to have contact with Dean Wray #77 sending both front runners to the back of the field. On the restart Steve Jackson #2J would take the lead and appear to be the car to beat until the #2N of Don Nunnikhoven would take the high line and the lead in the closing laps. Nunnikhoven would take the win and stand tall in McCarthy Auto Group Winners Circle on this night of competition. Jesse Brown #11 would use a daring last lap pass to finish second with Jackson third. Fourth place would go to heat race winner Mich Ross #34X with Dean Wray recovering to end the night a solid fifth.
E-Modified would roar to the track and see Randy Smith JR #75X work his way from a tenth place starting position to the front and on to his second win in as many weeks. Heat race winner Smith would show poise and consistency working traffic and winning the feature with the always fast Ben Stockton #33S a very close second. Other heat race winner Manlee Lamar #4M would lead early and fade slightly to finish third with Derek Carney #05 fourth and Matt Dorssom #3D rounding out the nights top five.
Then came the best of the best, the USMTS Modifieds. Stormy Scott #2S would take the early lead only to spin and bring out the first yellow of the feature moving Cade Dillard #97 to the point on the ensuing restart. Dillard would lead until Ricky Thorton Jr #20RT would make his move and wrestle the lead away from Dillard. Thorton would not look back and pick up the feature win. Johnny Scott in the #1ST would make a charge to the front and place second with Dillard slipping to third. Fourth place would see Stormy Scott with Derrick Ramirez #4R a solid fifth place showing.
I-35 Speedway would like to thank Todd Staley, all the drivers and fans for a great night of racing action!! See everyone next Saturday where there is always more “Dirt Trackin at its Best”!!!!!!
