By: Phillip Wilson, Track Announcer
After a two-week break, Mother Nature finally let the stars and cars of I-35 Speedway return. One hundred twenty-seven (127) cars checked into the pits for McCarthy Auto Group kids’ night with generous sponsors donating money and school supplies for kids to go back to school.
The E-Mods started off the show with points leader Adam Dunwoodie picking up his eighth feature win of the season. The win didn’t come easy for Dunwoodie as second place finisher Tony Layne put the pressure on after a gender reveal during intermission announced the Layne family would be welcoming a new baby boy. Michael Hascall ran up front all race long finishing third. Nathan Hampton had a good run to finish fourth, with long time veteran Jeremiah Asher finishing fifth.
In Pure Stock action Jeffery Sears picked up his seventh feature win of the season as he held off the defending track champion Ava Dixon, who finished second. CJ Turner raced his way up to finish third. Marshall Cramer came home fourth with Tyler Phillips in fifth.
In the Midwest Limited Late Models Paul Glendenning picked up his first feature win of the season as he held off points leader Houston Johnson, Jon Binning, Jackson Brawner and Tommy Cordray to round out the top five.
A season high 19 racecars checked in for the Show Me Vintage series, with Bryant Moyer picking up the win. Chad Eickleberry and Tom Charles put the pressure on lap after lap as they would finish second and third. Damon Clevenger would come in fourth and Dan Schmidt in fifth.
In the USRA B-Mods, Bobby Williams made his first trip to I-35 Speedway a successful one as he slipped by Ethan Issacs on the last lap. Issacs lead for most of the race but would finish second. USRA B-Mod national points leader Shadren Turner finished third. Austin Charles would win the battle against Tyler Cadwallader, with Charles coming in fourth and Cadwallader in fifth.
Medieval USRA Stock Car track points leader Jeff Dixon would pick up his second feature win on the year as he outlasted challenges from Doug Keller, who finished second. Nic Hanes would race his way up to a third-place finish, followed by Scott Carlson in fourth and Mason Beck, making his first trip to I-35 Speedway in fifth.
In the USRA Modifieds, Tyler Hibner would survive a fierce battle with Darren Shaw to claim his eighth win of the season. Shaw would hold on for second, with Tyler Grooms, who had to replace an engine before the races, finishing third. Track points leader Houston Johnson would finish fourth and Lee Hibner would rebound to finish fifth.
Another newcomer to I-35 Speedway, David Kirkpatrick, would visit McCarthy Auto Group Victory Lane in the Sport Compacts. Kirkpatrick would pass race leader Harold Robb Jr with a few laps remaining, as Robb would finish second. Newcomer David Matney would come home third after a great battle with Elijah Hoyt in fourth and Hunter Throckmorton in fifth.
In the Jr Sport Compacts, Brycen Bouzek would pick up his fifth feature win of the season. Bouzek had to fight off the challenges of second place finisher Grant Sheetz and point leader Payton Hanes as she finished third. Emma Mather would slip by Katelyn Flemming at the line to take fourth as Flemming finished fifth.
