I-35 Speedway Recap 9-20-25

September 20, 2025

WINSTON, Mo. (Sept. 20, 2025)—Another action-packed night at I-35 Speedway has come and gone. Tonight was Generational Buildings night at the races, which brought out 90 total cars on a perfect night for racing. We had to battle through some technical difficulties tonight, but we powered through and completed everything as scheduled. We also welcomed the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars back to the track and they were exciting to watch. Moving into on track action, heat racing went as quick and seamless as you could imagine, and we started feature racing at 8:30 P.M.

First up was the E-Modifieds, where Coleman Browning was able to use his pole starting position to lead every lap and take home the feature win, Browning’s 2nd feature win this season at I-35. Garrett Stonum finished in 2nd, Shaun Pederson in 3rd, Chance Brune and Gary Myers rounded out the top 5.

Next up was the Late Models, which had Houston Johnson securing the feature win, Johnson’s 6th feature win in the Late Models this season. Michael King finished in 2nd and Tommy Cordray in 3rd. Cordray took a wild ride in the opening laps, entering turn 3, Cordray’s car flipped over twice before coming to rest on his roof. Cordray was able to walk away from the accident thankfully, but it was a very scary crash to witness.

Sport Compacts had JR Curtis grabbing his 2nd feature win of the season. David Miller and Curtis were side by side laps 3-10 and Miller came so close to catching Curtis but ultimately would take home 2nd, Ryan Hinkle in 3rd, Hunter Throckmorton in 4th and Brad Mick scored a 5th place finish.

Next up was the IMCA Sprint Cars, where Laney Moore made the pass for the lead and couldn’t be caught and took home the feature win. Mike Trent finished in 2nd, Chase Koelliker in 3rd, Monty Ferriera in 4th and Jake Greenwood rounded out the top 5.

Pure Stocks had a near photo finish, as Calvin Teel would hold on to secure the feature win, but AJ Sayers did not make it easy. Sayers was able to catch Teel in the closing laps but wasn’t able to find a way around him. Shaun Wirtz finished in 3rd, Steven Ramilo in 4th and Aaron Myers in 5th.

USRA B-Modifieds had Chad Clancy and Adam Dunwoodie battling for the race lead for what felt like the entire race. Clancy would stay in front to score the win. Dunwoodie finished a close 2nd, Darren Shaw in 3rd, Chris Wright in 4th and Perry Milbourn Jr. finished in 5th.

USRA Stock Cars brought some excitement of their own, as Chris Dishong would hold on and win the feature race. Shayne Bailey was reeling in Dishong as the laps wound down, but would finish in 2nd. Anthony Robertson finished in 3rd, Jake Hoover in 4th and Blayne McMillin collected a top-5 finish.

Nick Roberts led every lap in the USRA Modified feature race to score his first win of the season at I-35. Mark Dotson would finish in 2nd, Houston Johnson in 3rd, Preston Dawson in 4th and Brad Johnson in 5th.

And in the Beginner Sport Compacts, Abby Lee took home the feature win, her 2nd this season. Hallie Waters finished in 2nd.
