I-35 Speedway Race Recap 8-23-25

Another action-packed night of dirt track racing has come and gone at I-35 Speedway. Tonight was CR Seeds and Services night at the races, and it turned into the perfect night out at the track. Tonight was also the 8th Annual Bud Wilson Memorial Race. Bud mentored lots of drivers throughout the years, including many of our feature winners we see on the track today. The family held a free to enter Fan of the Week giveaway and handed out a couple driver awards during intermission.

Moving into feature racing action the E-Modifieds were first up and had Tony Layne take home his 3rd consecutive feature race. This marks feature win number 9 for Layne this season. Garrett Stonum finished in 2nd, Nathan Asher started in 7th and would drive up to 3rd, Nathan Hampton in 4th and Rodell Sperry in 5th.

Late Models rolled out next. Tommy Cordray would take home the feature race win, Corday’s 3rd feature win this season. Bobby Penney finished in 2nd, Michael King in 3rd, Brandon Barnes 4th and Houston Johnson finished 5th after exiting the race early with mechanical issues.

Sport Compacts had Brad Mick finding himself back in victory lane, Mick’s 14th feature win this season and first since July 19th. Mick started the season winning 12 races in a row. Chris Lewis led multiple laps before finishing in 2nd, David Miller in 3rd, Alvin Cooney in 4th and Ryan Hinkle in 5th.

Pure Stock feature race came down to a 3-wide finish at the flag stand that had everyone out of their seat. Track officials took their time to make sure the finish was scored correctly, and Conrad Kauffman took home the feature win. Kauffman came across the line less than half- a -car lengths ahead of 2nd place James Silkwood and 3rd place Clint Baker. Calvin Teel finished in 4th and Shaun Wirtz in 5th.

USRA B-Modifieds had first time feature winners in back-to-back weeks. Tonight, it was Ethan Young collecting his first ever feature win. Randy Smith Jr. finished in 2nd, Adam Dunwoodie in 3rd, Corey Myers in 4th and Tyler O’Neal rounded out the top 5.

Jeff Dixon snagged his first feature win in the USRA Stock Cars this season at I-35. Kristchon Hisel started 9th and passed multiple cars and finished in 2nd, Derrick Brown in 3rd, Chris Mercer in 4th, and Steven Glenn in 5th.

Houston Johnson pulled away to collect his 12th feature win in the USRA Modifieds. Mark Dotson finished in 2nd, Jimmy Dowell in 3rd, Brad Johnson in 4th and Jory Stotts in 5th.

And our final feature of the evening had Robert Miller getting the lead early and never looking back in the Jr. Sport Compacts. Miller wins feature races in back-to-back weekends and collects his 5th feature win this season. Abby Lee finished in 2nd, Hallie Waters 3rd and Leah Whitt in 4th.
