I-35 Speedway Race Recap 6-21-25

June 21, 2025

Seeburg Mufflers Night at The Races brought a hot, competitive night to I-35 with temps in the 90’s and a car count over 100. It was also Racin’ for Rian in honor of Rian Bree Wilson, who would have turned 15 this year.

In on track action the Pure Stocks rolled off first where Gavin Grier would go two nights in a row with a feature win after winning Friday night. Grier would get around AJ Sayers and hold off Pure Stock points leader CJ Turner for the victory. Sayers would finish third, followed by Marvin Kauffman and James Silkwood.

Brad Mick remains perfect in the Sport Compacts at I-35 this season after reeling in Chris Lewis early in the race. The young gun Grant Sheetz would finish second, with Lewis in third, Ryan Hinkle in fourth and Andrew Robb in fifth.

Tyler Hibner has dominated much of the late model season at I-35, but Tommy Cordray would reign supreme at the end of the night. Paul Glendenning and Mark Dotson, multiple time feature winners last season, would battle Hibner much of the feature, but eventually the 24 would get clear into second. Hibner was able to gain ground on Cordray but not able to catch him before the checkers fell. Dotson would come home third, followed by Glendenning and Jon Binning in fifth.

In the Vintage Open Series Mike Lefholz would be able to pass Allen Guthrie to secure the feature win. Ron Lefholz would gain ground late but come home third, followed by the 20X of Dino Rodish and the XX of Steve Tanner.

In the USRA B-Mods Jake Richards and Chad Clancy would separate themselves from the pack and battle it out for the win. Clancy was able to catch and run right with the 7J of Richards but could not get around him for the win. The 75X of Randy Smith Jr. would come home third, followed by Tyler O’Neal and Adam Dunwoodie.

In the USRA Stock Cars, Doug Keller and Rodney Schweizer looked to put on an encore performance of the B-Mods, with both drivers hugging the bottom and Schweizer able to catch but not pass Keller. While they battled, Austin Kaplan worked his way through the field, after starting 12th, running the outside lane, and eventually used that momentum to pass both the leaders. Kaplan would set sail and bring home the feature win, followed by Keller, Schweizer, the 7B of Shayne Bailey, and the 95 of Bo Eads. The 63B of Clayton Brown rolled multiple times in his heat race, started 19th in the feature and battled all race long to come home seventh.

In the USRA Modifieds Lee Hibner would scoot away to an early lead but was being reeled in by national USRA points leader Houston Johnson and his son Tyler Hibner. Tyler would slide a bit too high through turns 3 and 4 and went over the banking, landing upside down. Lee would spin and retire shortly after, allowing Houston Johnson to pull away from Chad Clancy for his ninth feature win of the season and seventh at his home track of I-35 Speedway. Clancy would hold onto second followed by Eddie Ingram, Steven Glenn, and Preston Dawson to round out the top five.

Bentley Haring would pull away from heat race winner Paige Sanders for the feature win in the Jr Sport compacts. Rylie Robb would come home third followed by Autumn Manley in fourth.

Thank you to all drivers, crews, officials, staff, sponsors, and of course the fans for all you do to make this possible. A special thank you to Mike Johnson for all he does, but especially all the work he put in to get a great track on such a hot windy night, including dumping nearly 50,000 gallons of water! Full results and points can be found on our website or links on our Facebook page, and we’ll see you all next Saturday night!
