After a week of racing cancelled due to poor weather, we got back to racing at I-35 Speedway this past Saturday night. On track action was exciting from the first heat race to our final feature.

We welcomed back the Heartland Modified Touring Series for the first time this season, which brought out a packed grandstands ready to watch the dirt fly.

Before we got the racing action underway, Leroy Troyer who is the proud owner of Generational Buildings, Team Spray Foam, Kingdom Truss and Triple Cross Trucking was honored to give our invocation for the night.

On the track, Tony Layne continued his blazing hot start in the E-Mods to win his 3rd feature race in only our 3rd night of racing. But the coolest part is Layne gave his trophy to a very lucky fan out in the grandstands.

Conrad Kauffman had to put his Pure Stock to the test, but was able to hold on and take home the feature win. Kauffman had to pass and hold off multiple very fast cars to pull off the feature win.

Heartland Modified Touring Series regular Dakota Dale snagged his first feature win this season at I-35 Speedway. After a late race restart, leader Shadren Turner had a mechanical failure down the back stretch and Dale was able to capitalize.

Brad Mick passed his good friend David Miller in the closing laps to pick up the Sport Compact feature win. Similar to Layne in the E-Mods, Mick is a perfect 3 for 3 in feature races this season. Lonnie Hibner made the high-line stick and collected the USRA B-Mod feature win, “the first one in a while” as Hibner eluded too in his Victory Lane interview. And Doug Keller used a front row starting position to hold off a super talented field of USRA Stock Cars and take home the feature win.

Thank you to all the great fans that were at the track this past Saturday night, the grandstands were full and energy throughout was high all night long. Thank you to our team of track officials and safety crew for producing a perfect track to race and keeping everyone at the track safe. Thank you to all the drivers that bring their best to I-35 Speedway every Saturday night. And one more big thank you to everyone involved with the Heartland Modified Touring Series. From on the track to the behind the scenes and anyone else connected you all do an amazing job providing the best Modified racing in the area!

We will be back next Saturday night for our weekly racing series, so be sure to make your way to the track to watch the dirt fly! Check myracepass or i-35speedway.net for full race results or updated points.
