I-35 Speedway Recap 5-18-24

We welcomed 94 cars to I-35 Speedway this past Saturday night. With new faces in multiple different classes, there was great racing in every class from start to finish. The MOKAN IMCA Sprints and the Midwest Lightning Sprints made their debut at I-35 Speedway this week and were exciting anytime they were on the track.

 

For our weekly racing series, we had some familiar faces under the Bob Reber Memorial Flag stand in victory lane. Nic Hanes extended his streak of feature wins to six in the USRA Stock Cars, battling lap after lap with Adam Dunwoodie and Corey Myers but eventually secured the lead with 2 laps to go. Chris Leathers also extended his feature win streak up to three in the USRA B-Mods.

Tyler Hibner used a late restart to secure his third feature win in the USRA A-Mods, racing against multiple very competitive cars. Jakub Hisel found himself in victory lane for the third time this season as well, bringing home the win in the Pure Stocks. Kameron Hanes also captured his third feature win of the season, getting the victory in the always competitive E-Mod class.

 

We also had multiple first-time feature winners at I-35 Speedway this past weekend. In the Sport Compacts, Alvin Cooney captured his first win of the season, beating multiple fast cars to secure the victory. Emma Mather got her first career win, taking home the victory in the Jr. Sport Compacts. JP Falke got the win in the Midwest Lightning Sprints in this series debut. And JR Topper brought home the victory in the MOKAN IMCA Sprint Cars in the first time seeing the sprint cars at I-35 this season.

 

Thank you to all the track regulars and also the new drivers at the track for putting on an amazing show on a perfect night for racing. A special thanks to our safety crew and officials for keeping all the drivers safe and keeping the track in perfect racing condition. We can’t wait to see all the fans in the grandstands next Saturday, where the Sport Compacts will be racing for $1,000!
