I-35 Speedway the race track where we always have fun! Last weekend we had super exciting races on Saturday and we introduced ATV racing on Sunday. I-35 Speedway is your Motorsports Park home for fun. This Saturday, May 26, 2018 we will once again have race cars in our weekly classes in close side by side nose to tail competition. We will have double features for the mighty four-cylinder Sport Compacts. Even at intermission we have the super fun, edge of your seat, watch out for the cone, turn left not right, speed demons, the future of our sport the mighty power wheel races! But wait we are not done, we have been teasing you with it the last few weeks, now the drivers say they are ready for competition, for the first time in this area in 30 years a Figure 8 race will be run.
Figure 8 drivers will be intersecting in the middle of the track, normal left turns in turns 1 and 2 and right turns in turns 3 and 4 with an intersection in the middle. This is a driver calculating race as they come out of their turns they must scan oncoming traffic and formulate their strategy; do they gun it and get in front of someone or do they wait. All this calculation occurs in the blink of an eye bringing thrilling action at the crossover.
As May unfolds let’s take a quick look back – Eighteen years and younger admitted to the grandstands free for the remainder of this year. We have seen several families come enjoy the races and we have seen several young couples taking advantage of this opportunity and enjoy date night at the track. Again, just a reminder we have expanded this policy to the entire race season, so plenty of opportunities for date night for young couples and young families!
As we approach June the exciting fun continues, our Annual “Racin For Rian” started by Bud and Amanda Wilson will be held on June 23. Stop by the souvenir stand and order your shirt now. This event was started to assist the St. Lukes NICU Unit who will be in attendance this year. Additionally, the 2nd Annual Gary Davis Memorial Race for Stock Cars has moved to I-35 Speedway and will be on June 16, this race pays $3,000 for first, $2,000 for second, $1,000 for third and $215 to start the race, $95 tow money for those not making the feature, open to all stock car drivers with 8-inch tires. More ATV Racing coming to the schedule all in June. The fun just keeps on happening!
Make your plans to be at I-35 Speedway this Saturday hot laps at 6:30 races at 7:00. General Admission is $12, Seniors and Military Personnel $2 off, and 18 and under free! Lawn Chair seating area available, super clean restrooms especially for the ladies, and always Free Parking. Concessions located throughout the facility.
