Starting the racing action was the USRA Modified make up feature from 6/17/2017. Heat race winner Cory Wray #69N would bolt to the front and never look back picking up the feature win. Wray would be challenged early and often by other heat winner Darren Shaw #11 and Derrick Hicks #78 as they would have their own battle raging for second and third as Hicks would place second edging Shaw who would end the race third. Fourth would see Modified rookie contender Nic Hanes #17X with Billie Hoover #96J a close fifth.
Grand Nationals would take to the fast, smooth 3/8th mile speedway next and se Travis Walker work his way to the front and on to McCarthy Auto Group Victory Lane. Walker #71 would set a blistering pace holding heat winner Donnie Brown #26 to place second and Billie Hoover #97 to finish third on this night of competition. Other heat race winner John Brown #36J would slip to place fourth with John Hanson #54 fifth place.
Pure Stock would see a familiar car with yet another driver visit victory lane. Mich Ross would go aboard the #20X on this night and win both heat and feature. Ross would falter in the feature only to recover and charge back to the point and he win. Second place would belong to Conner Masoner #47X with Kyle Rowland #5 impressing with a sold third place finish on the night. Fourth would see the prior week’s winner Cody King #29 as other heat winner Cletus Murray #21M would again notch a top five finish.
Sport Compact would visit I-35 Speedway and witness Austin King #53 win both heat race and feature. Second would go to Eric Schmidt #121, who was in the hunt for the win the entire race with Allen Anders #15A a very close third. Fourth would see veteran racer Rocky Rhodes #8 as Drew Tully #33 would round out the top five.
E-Modified would not disappoint with exciting, edge of the seat racing from front to back. Heat race winner Gary Ainsworth #14 would take the early lead as other heat winners Derek Carney #05 and J J Baumli #46 would work their way through the field. Carney would use the high line to perfection passing Ainsworth for the front as the race progressed. Baumli would chase down Carney trying high and low but Carney would not be shaken holding off all challenges to park in McCarthy Auto Group Winners Circle for his first ever feature win. Baumli would end the race second with a charging Randy Smith Jr #75X third. Jeffrey Sears #13J continues to improve placing fourth as Ainsworth would slip to fifth in the later stages of the race.
Midwest Lightning Sprints would be low in number but high in quality as they took to the track. Heat winner Mark Billings #51 would take the front and appear to be the car to beat until a spin cycle in turn two would send him to the rear of the field. Jason Billups #2 would take the point and never relinquish picking up the victory. Billups would be challenged by second place finisher Bobby Layne #01 and third place #B20 of Tom Brown. Mark Billings would recover to place fourth with Ken Billings #85 rounding out the top five positions on the track.
USRA B-Modified would see a race of epic proportions as the gladiators would do battle three and four wide. Shadren Turner #17t would use a heat race win to propel him to the front as he would hold off the hard challenge of other heat winner Bud Wilson #22W. Contact between Wilson and the #211 of heart winner Tim Eaton on a restart would send both cars to the tail of the field moving Doug Keller #7 to attempt to catch Turner for the lead. Turner would not be denied and stand tall in McCarthy Auto Group Winners Circle with Keller placing second. Third would belong to Daniel Harris #07 who was in the hunt for the win all race with Tony Manley #3X with his best run to date of 2017 fourth. The always fast and consistent Randy Ainsworth #57 would end the night with a solid top five finish.
USRA Stock Cars would see a new face in victory lane as Brett Heeter #05 would sweep both heat race and feature on this night of competition. Heeter would go unchallenged walking away from the field winning by a straight away on second place finisher Dean Wray #77. Aaron Sauter #83A would finish third with Brad Whitney #X9 fourth and Jon Boller #20 fifth.
USRA Modified would see a battle on the race track between Mount Ayr Iowa’s Dennis Elliott #29 and Shamrock Texas driver Logan Robertson #23 as they would go back and forth for the top spot. Elliott would run the high line and Robertson the low line with neither giving an inch to the other. Elliott would stay up top on the track and use that high side momentum to gain the advantage at the line picking up the feature win. Elliott would win both heat race and feature celebrating in McCarthy Auto Group Winners Circle. Robertson would place second with Billie Hoover #99 impressing with a third place showing. Fourth would see the Hall of Famer Buz Kaster #54 hold off the hard challenge of fifth place finisher Derrick Hick #78. Other heat race winner was #17$ of Shane Lawson.
Heartland Missions and Motorsports Kids Power Wheels would see action during Intermission with both classes seeing repeat winners. Six volt would see a furious battle between #6 Frankie Baker and Weston Romesburg #22 until Weston decided to play in the dirt instead of race. Baker would go on to victory giving her a third win on the 2017 racing season. Twelve volt would see bumping, banging, spinning and very close racing between all competitors. Bentley Hicks #78 and Creed Wilson #22w would mix it up in turn #1 & #2 only to see Arieona Rainey #22 and Jayson Kidd #52.5 take over the point. Wilson would recover to take the front with Kidd missing a cone in turn four. When the smoke cleared Wilson would pick up the win, Rainey second, Hicks third with Kidd fourth.
