Reed, Bryant, Heeter and Nunninkhoven Race to Victory on Kaster Celebration Night at the Races

(WINSTON, Mo.) – The Rick Beebe Heating and Air Conditioning Smokin’ Hot Summer Series roared past the halfway point on an unseasonably cool night at I-35 Speedway. Robbie Reed and Nic Bidinger took USRA Modified heat race wins and carried that momentum into the feature. Robbie Reed took the lead early in the feature and set a rapid pace while Dennis Elliott, Bidinger, Tyler Hibner and Mark Dotson swapped positions almost every lap behind him. A late race caution allowed the gap to Reed to close. On the restart, Bidinger ripped the cushion and snuck to the outside of Reed. Bidinger took the lead off turn four but the yellow flew before they crossed the line relegating him back to third. Now seeing Bidinger’s line, Reed handled the next restart and hung onto the lead and eventual race win. Bidinger finished second with Dotson third, Elliott fourth and Hibner fifth.

The USRA B-Modifieds had a mix of fast drivers up front and fast drivers stuck deep in the field. Throw in a quickly changing track and the field could see a lot of movement in running order. Andy Bryant reacted first to the changing track and drove to the bottom. That allowed Bryant to take the lead and make a trip to McCarthy Auto Group Winner’s Circle. Dustin Crist followed Bryant on the bottom and drove to a second place finish. Patrick Royalty drove from ninth to finish third. Heat-race winner Luke Nieman finished fourth and Brad Smith drove from 17th to finish fifth.

Brett Heeter and Kevin Anderson have developed a friendly rivalry during the last few weeks in USRA Stock Car action. This week, Heeter won the battle and picked up the checkered flag. Anderson fought on the bottom but settled for second. Donavon Nunnikhoven finished third, Jaylen Wettengel fourth and Cletus Murray fifth.

The Stock Cars also had a make-up feature from the June 30 postponement. Donavon Nunnikhoven cruised to the checkered flag and picked up his second win at I-35 Speedway this season. Aaron Sauter finished second, Gene Stigall third, Cletus Murray fourth and Michael Knight fifth.

The E-Modifieds welcomed a new driver to I-35 Speedway victory lane in the closet finish of the night. Charlie Browne led the race from the start but struggled on restarts. On the final restart, Eddie Ingram made his move to the inside and the two battled side-by-side to the finish where Ingram won by a nose. Browne finished second, John Ross third, Shaunie Lanning fourth and Jeremy Curless fifth.

The Pure Stock feature saw Ron Hill pick up his eighth win of the season. Kerry Ayers fought hard but finished second. Rylee Fuller finished third, Jason Carney finished fourth in his first appearance this season and Albert Curtis fifth.

Steven Bunton ended the run of John Willard in the Sport Compact feature as he picked up the feature win. David Miller III finished second. Dave Petty Jr. continued his consistent season, finishing third. Tanner Burton finished fourth and Ryan Lewis fifth.

The Grand Nationals and Midwest Outlaw Vintage Racers combined classes for the night. Chad Fuller battled from the back through both classes of cars and won the race. Houston Johnson finished second and Billie Hoover third. Dennis Fair won the Vintage portion of the race over Mike Lefholz and Jack Larson.
