Taylor III, Yonts, Miller, Johnson, Turner up his , Dixon, Bowers and Kreisel cash in on Rod End Supply night at I-35 Speedway

In what has become the norm at I-35 Speedway fans and drivers were treated to the smoothest racing surface around as well as good, hard and competitive racing by some of the best drivers in the area.

Michael Taylor III got things started by winning his fourth EMod feature of the season at I-35 Speedway. Taylor survived the great competition as the current points leader was followed by George Burnett, Chad Allen, Lane Matthews and Mark Anderson in the top 5. Heat race wins went to Josh Adkins, Derrick Mahoney and Taylor. Andrew Thomas picked up the B-Main win and Anderson gained 9 positions to be the hard charger.

Rieli Yonts picked up his third win in 2021 in what was the closest battle of the night. Yonts the current points leader battled hard with Travis Cavin the final half of the feature, winning by only 0.077 seconds. Cavin finished a close second followed by Kris Foote, Darrion McLaughlin and Kristchon Hisel. Yonts and Cavin won the heat races and Hisel was the hard charger.

The Powri Midwest Lightning Sprints made their return to I-35 Speedway with Stanley Kreisel also making his return. Kreisel had numerous feature wins in 2020 at I-35 and his first trip in 2021 was no different. Kreisel had to chase down Kenny Bowers, who led a majority of the race before he slipped high coming out of turn 4 and Tony Layne who is quickly becoming a force in the MLS division. Kreisel was followed by Layne, Paden Moreland, Bowers and 13 year old Trice Rowden in the top 5. Heats were won by Layne and 15 year old Chasity Younger. Kreisel gained 8 spots to be the hard charger.

In Sport Compact action Curtis Miller picked up the win as he wrestled the lead away from Keegan Russell. Russell led a lot of the race before Miller got by. Russell held on to finish second, Harold Robb Sr. showing much improvement from a year ago finished third, points leader Brad Mick was fourth and the newly engaged Brandon Hartman rounded out the top 5. Heat wins went to Chris Wright and Brad Mick with Harold Robb Jr. getting the hard charger.

Houston Johnson came out of nowhere on the outside line for the second week in a row to capture his second straight win in the Midwest Limited Late Models. Johnson battled hard with then race leader and points leader Kerry Davis, Tommy Cordray, Paul Glendenning and Mike Taylor Jr. who all finished in the top 5. Heat wins went to Johnson and Davis with Terry Vantrump getting the hard charger.

Shadren Turner captured his second straight USRA B-Mod feature win at I-35 Speedway. Turner pulled away on every restart and never looked back. Ben Stockton made his return to I-35 gearing up for the upcoming Finish Strong Mike Tanner memorial race and had a good run in second. Todd Luke in only his third start in his new car finally had a turn of luck as he finished third, points leader Tyler Cadwallader started deep in the field but stayed clean as he finished fourth and John Ross making his return to I-35 after moving to Minnesota in the offseason used the outside to perfection to finish fifth. Heat wins went to Turner, Stockton and Kyler Girard. Cadwallader gained 13 positions to win the hard charger.

Jeff Dixon, another driver to claim his second straight win at I-35 Speedway motored his way to a win in the USRA Stock Cars. Dixon set sail and never looked back as he had to hold off the ever improving Kasey Ayers, Mich Ross a winner from 2 weeks ago, Blake Peeler and Tyler Grooms driving David Davis’s car. Heat wins went to Dixon and Doug Keller with Grooms getting the hard charger.

Steven Bowers Jr. got back to his winning ways claiming his fourth win in the USRA Modifieds at I-35 Speedway. Bowers battled hard with Adam Kates eventually getting the pass for the win. Points leader Houston Johnson had another top 3 finish as he came home second, Kates finished third, Tyler Hibner was fourth and Shayne Bailey rounded off the top 5. Daniel Harris and Bowers claimed heat wins with Bailey getting the hard charger.

Next Saturday the USAC Midwest Wingless Sprint Association try to tame the famed I-35 Speedway.
