Danan Knott takes home big pay day on Casey’s General Store Night “Mike Knight Memorial”.

140 cars checked into the pit area tonight as we celebrated one of the best track preppers around, Mike Knight, as the fans were treated to three to four wide racing in every class.

E-Mods were first to hit the track as the Mike Hillyard family donated an extra $200. An extra $150 would go to the winner and $50 to the hard charger. The top two drivers would take home the extra money as Coleman Browning picked up the win, George Burnett finished 2nd, moving up 12 spots to take the hard charger cash. Jaden Polley finished third, James ‘Bubba’ Silkwood fourth and Aaron Jones fifth.

Pure Stocks were next on the track with Travis Cavin taking home feature win #1 of his career. It wasn’t easy as he had to hold off a hungry Colton Couch who was searching for his third win at three different tracks in 2021. Couch would finish second followed by Brandon Rice, Conrad Kaufman and Brit Pellman.

The POWRi Midwest Lightning Sprints were on hand due to a cancellation at the previously scheduled track. Bobby Layne picked up his third feature win at I-35 Speedway. Chase Fisher, who won in the first appearance this year, finished second. Young Trice Roden finished third followed by Tyler Johnson and Jeff Bard.

Next up was the Midwest Limited Late Models for their 20 feature as Paul Glendenning picked up his 5th feature win of 2021. 2019 track champion Tommy Cordray put the pressure on Glendenning during the second half of the race as he pulled up along Glendenning several times but would finish second. 2020 track champion and current points leader Kerry Davis finished third, followed by Houston Johnson and Sterling Perkins.

In USRA Stock Car action, Jeff Dixon picked up his second win in a row as a stout field of Stock Cars rumbled the 3/8-mile dirt oval. Keith Simmons finished second, Doug Keller third, Gene Stigall fourth and Matthew Lance fifth.

USRA Modified points leader Houston Johnson picked up his 5th feature win of the season as he got by 6-time feature winner Steven Bowers Jr for the win. Bowers finished second followed by Ed Noll, Darren Shaw and Austin Johnson.

In Sport Compact action Brett Holman put his 01B machine into the McCarthy Auto Group victory lane for a second straight week. Keegan Russell gave it all he had but finished second, third went to Robert Chase, fourth to Mikel Solberg and fifth to Harold Robb Jr.

To close out the evening the USRA B-Mods raced for a $750 payday as well as a 6 foot tall, beautiful trophy donated by the Mike Knight family. Cole Campbell looked to have the car to beat before a flat tire would end his lead and Shaunie Lanning came out of turn 2 with the lead. Lanning led until the final lap when coming out of turn two Danan Knott got a run on the high side to pick up his first win of 2021. Knott ran second for most of the race challenging Cole Campbell numerous times. Shaunie Lanning finished second followed by the current points leader Tyler Cadwallader who charged up from his 21st starting position. Fourth went to Shadren Turner and fifth to Colin Pierce.

In power wheels action Sponsored by T&T Builders out of Lamoni, Iowa Jackson Keller picked up the win in the 6 volts followed by Racelyn Romesburg.  Hayden Romesburg went home with the win in the 12 volts followed by Lily Withrow, Creed Wilson, Remington Hine, Jordy and Evan Dixon, Sawyer Curtis, Weston Romesburg, Kinslee Fuller and Racelyn Romesburg.  Weston Romesburg took home a power wheels win over Nic Hanes.

Congratulations to this weeks I-35 Speedway fan of the week winner Diana Harris sponsored by Silkwood family racing and Mark Anderson racing.

Join us next week as it will be the Design Source Flooring Bill Lawson Memorial with the Wholesale Batteries USAC Midwest Wingless Sprints and the Central States Midgets joining the I-35 Speedway classes!
