The Best of the Best are at I-35 Speedway! Over the next two weeks the Best Local Nashville Recording Star (August 9), the Best Barbeque Teams (August 9 & 10), the Best Modifieds (August 14), and the Best Area Late Models Series (August 17) will be at I-35 Speedway.
This Friday, August 9, the Best Barbeque Teams will roll into I-35 Speedway and change the aroma of the area with the smell of wings, chicken, brisket, pork, and ribs on the smokers. This is a KCBS sanctioned event, the Grand Champion receives an automatic entry into the American Royal BBQ contest at Kansas Speedway next month. Several of the Top KCBS Teams are entered in this contest ranking in the Top 10 for Team of the Year. Friday Night includes a People’s Choice Wing contest where the winner is determined by the public.
Also, this Friday, local Nashville Recording Artist Casi Joy, who hails from Smithville, Missouri will be in concert following the races. Joy’s vibrant stage presence has led to sharing the stage with many notable country acts including Montgomery Gentry, Easton Corbin, Dustin Lynch, and Locash. With over 27 million views on Facebook and YouTube videos that garnered 12 million and 7 million views respectively, Joy has captured the attention of music fans who appreciate the way she melds traditional country and modern pop influences.
Yes, there are races starting at 7:30 on Friday with Sport Compacts (Two features – second feature is $500 to win), Pure Stocks and E Mods. The Best of the Best in these classes will invade I-35 Speedway. Saturday brings the conclusion of the Barbeque Contest with the announcement of the winners and more racing. The three classes from Friday Night will return along with USRA A Mods, B Mods, and Stock Cars, the Limited Late Models, and the Outlaw Vintage. Each Night General Admission is $15, Seniors and Military with ID $12, ages 18 and younger get in Free. Concert only cover charge is $5.
