I-35 Speedway Press Release 9-5-20

What a fantastic night of racing at I-35 Speedway.  All classes were full of excitement on the ebbing full moon. One hundred and eight competitors in the classes produced side by side racing, slide by slide racing, and a few spills and chills.  Excitement everywhere!

 

E Mods were first out for the night and points leader Casey Burnett raced to the lead on lap one and everyone else was battling for positions behind him.  As the checkered flag waved it was Burnett with win number six and an 87-point lead on second place Kameron Hanes.  Michael Taylor III was third and young Brayden Bennett brought home fourth.

 

The USAC Midwest Wingless Racing Association was second out for their feature.  What a race for the win between Wyatt Burks and Don Droud! Side by side, slide by slide these two battled for the win. Wait it was Burks, no it was Droud, no Burks, no Droud, coming to the checkered it was Burks with the lead but Droud tried a super slide but coming out of turn 4 Burks motored by Droud for the win and the point lead.  Man on the move was Zach Sanders working his way into third.

The Pure Stock feature was point leader Brandon Dixon speeding his way into the lead and never relinquishing it over the twelve laps.  There was a super battle for the second through fourth with Nathan Simpson claiming second, Rieli Yonts third, and Travis Cavin fourth.

 

The Midwest Late Models were three wide out of four on the first lap between Kerry Davis, Paul Glendenning, and Tommy Cordray.   Davis claimed another win but not before a late charge by Michael Taylor Jr. made it the last lap an exciting lap as he closed on Davis bumper.

 

The Sport Compact field is getting ever closer to John Willard.  His experience showed with another win but he had plenty of company to escort him home.

The USRA classes were super competitive racing top to bottom.  Shadren Turner used his pole position to claim his fifth win and climb into second in points behind the leader and feature runner up Nic Hanes.  Tyler Cadwallader brought his machine home in third with Clint Baker fourth.

 

Every race night at I-35 Speedway there is one race that you are glad you were there to witness!  Tonight, it was the USRA Stock Cars.  The question after the races, who won?  When you hear those words, you know it was exciting.  The Trenton Missouri gang led the field to the green, Jeff Dixon and Greg Keuhn.  Points leader Doug Keller worked his way into the three-way battle which soon was a two way battle between Keller and Dixon.  One would run high one would race low.  At the white flag Dixon was on Keller’s tail and out of two he pulled the “X” move and into the inside and side by side down the back straight they raced.  Out of four they crossed again and at the line it was………….it was……………Keller by .053 of a second over Dixon!  What a race.

 

The USRA A Mods was a Hibner Double as Tyler Hibner took home the hardware with Lee Hibner second.  The battle for third saw Ed Noll edge out Darren Shaw.
