I-35 Speedway, Winston Mo

By: Phillip Wilson, Track Announcer
One hundred twenty-seven (127) racecars checked in for the Racin’ Dirt Bud Wilson Memorial and Johnson Mechanical Suicide Awareness event tonight at I-35 Speedway. Track personnel and racecar drivers were determined to put on the best show possible for the fans that attended the special event after a morning of mother nature challenges.
The E-Mods were first to hit the track and slowed only by two cautions for debris. Aaron Jones raced to his second win of the season after a great battle with Adam Dunwoodie. Dunwoodie tried every line to try to make the pass, but Jones would not be denied. Dunwoodie would finish second, Jory Stotts picked up a heat race win and would follow that up with his best career feature finish tonight with third, Chris Dishong pulled the Ole 41 machine out and move up eight positions to finish fourth with Kenny Reed getting a top five, finishing fifth.
Former series champion Stanley Kreisel picked up the win in the Poweri Midwest Lightning Sprints. Kreisel was unable to make the call for the heat race but showed he is still a force in the feature. Ken Billings made his return with a second-place finish, Trice Roden was third followed by Tyler Johnson and Mike Tindall.
Houston Johnson made a last lap pass on Tommy Cordray to pick up the win in the Midwest Limited Late Model feature. Johnson and Cordray would battle throughout the event. It would be Johnsons’ fifth win of the season. Cordray would finish second, third would go to points leader Ed Noll, fourth went to Jarrett Ballard and fifth to Harold Robb Jr.
A $900 to win was up for grabs in the Pure Stocks thanks to donors and the ASF Racing team in honor of suicide prevention. Mich Ross driving the 11j machine for Jake Starmer would pass leader Tyler Starmer about halfway through the race to pick up the win. For Ross it would be his fourth win at I-35 and the eighth for the 11j car. Dale Eaton would get by Starmer to finish second, Starmer was third, Jon Boller Jr finished fourth and Brandon Dixon fifth.
The USRA B-Mods had a stacked field this week as Daniel Harris led wire to wire to pick up his second feature win of the season. Tyler Cadwallader and Shadren Turner waged war behind the leader allowing Harris to sneak away. Points leader Tyler Cadwallader would finish second, Shadren Turner was third, Michael Taylor III had a good run in fourth and Chris Wright had a fifth-place run.
Doug Keller would pull away to pick up his fourth feature win of the season at I-35 Speedway in USRA Stock Car competition. The fifteen-lap feature went caution free. Kasey Ayers and Randy Smith Jr battled lap after lap with Ayers second, Smith third, points leader Nic Hanes would finish fourth and Tony Manley in his first race of the season was fifth.
Jadin Fuller would make his first trip to I-35 Speedway a successful one as he picked up the win in the USRA Modifieds. The Memphis, Missouri native seem to have the race well in hand until points leader Tyler Hibner closed in with the help of heavy lap traffic. Hibner would make it interesting at the end but Fuller held on for the victory. Tyler Hibner was second, Lee Hibner would finish third after starting twelfth on the night, Houston Johnson motored to a fourth-place finish and Dustin Miller had a nice race finishing fifth.
Coming into tonight the points battle in the Sport Compacts was the hottest contested battle with Isaiah Penton and Brad Mick deadlocked in a tie. After visiting McCarthy Autogroup Victory Lane for the fourteenth time this season and Mick having mechanical issues the last two laps Penton is now the outright points leader. Brad Alshire would race to a second-place finish, defending track champion Harrold Robb Sr would enjoy a good run finishing third, Jeremy Sims and Johnathon Hartman would finish fourth and fifth.
The T&T builders Little Buddies Power Wheels were won by Jackson Keller in 6-volt action and Kinsley Fuller in 12-volt competition.
Congratulations to Kylie Brull for winning fan of the week sponsored by Bud Wilson family racing, ASF Racing, Shadren Turner racing and Nichols racing.
Join us next week for the CSI Overhead Door Be Aware Cancer Rally event as we continue the race to October to Crown our 2022 I-35 Speedway Track Champions.
